Innovation Lighthouse is testing sustainability solutions in our living lab in The Student Hotel - Amsterdam City. Key question that will be answered: which solutions really work to make hotel stays more sustainable while continuing to provide a great guest experience?
The outcomes help hotels around the world select those interventions that are effective in making rooms more sustainable and shines a spotlight on innovative sustainability solutions.

This living lab - focusing on both technological innovations and behavioural interventions - is a co-creation of Innovation Lighthouse, The Student Hotel and Wageningen University and is supported by the Booking Cares Fund. More information about Booking Cares can be found here.
What We Measure
As part of this living lab, we will measure the environmental, economic and social impacts of a range of technological and social sustainability innovations, such as:
- Environmental impacts: changes in energy use, water use, waste, CO2 emissions and air quality
- Guest response and experience: changes to awareness, behaviour and spillover behaviour in the city and at home
- Business case: return on investment and payback period
